Bienestar Juntos

Providing social-emotional and behavioral support in the classroom.

Bienestar Juntos is an early intervention program that works in collaboration with Kids Place Child Development Center to provide social-emotional and behavioral support in the classroom. Bienestar Juntos staff create individualized treatment plans for families that can include child-care scholarships, mental health and socio-emotional support for family members, and mental health education for parents and caregivers. Parents and caregivers enrolled in Bienestar Juntos are required to participate in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy while children in Bienestar Juntos will participate in Child-Centered Play Therapy.

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)

Play-based Therapeutic Intervention

CCPT is a developmentally responsive, play-based therapeutic intervention for young children who present with emotional, social, and behavioral concerns. Play therapy utilizes play, children's natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings through toys instead of words. In CCPT, a play therapist provides a safe relationship and environment where children experience unconditional acceptance, understanding, and empathy which allows children to freely express their internal world. This nurturing relationship is the key factor for creating meaningful and long-term change. Research outcomes include decreased symptomatic behaviors and improvement in overall functioning.

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

CPRT is a play therapy-based therapeutic program for parents and caregivers to help them care for young children presenting with behavioral, emotional, social, and attachment concerns. CPRT is founded on the belief that a caregiver-child relationship is the essential component for a child’s health and well-being. HNS provides CPRT in both an individual and group format. Caregivers and parents can learn skills to respond to their children’s emotional, mental, and behavioral needs while modeling behavior that will allow their children to emotionally regulate, build self-esteem, and practice limits.
